Caitlyn Jenner Says Interview With Ellen Alienated Her From LGBT Community

In Caitlyn Jenner’s soon-to-be released memoir, The Secrets Of My Life, Jenner discusses how she was alienated by the LGBTQ community after an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, in which she explained her lack of support for same sex marriage.  Jenner purportedly explains in her new book, which is rumored to have garnered her a $4 million advance payment, that:

“I believed, as anyone would, that that was exactly what she wanted to talk about – my progression in terms of changing attitude over the years…. I am for it… I did not initially understand why marriage was so important, influenced no doubt by my own personal experience. Now I do, and it’s a wonderful thing to see.”

The backlash against Jenner occurred after DeGeneres told Howard Stern in an interview:

Ellen said to Howard: “I said [to Caitlyn], ‘You’re wanting people to understand and accept you – this is, like, really confusing to people. And you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage…. She goes, ‘Well, if the word marriage is that important’. It is! That’s the word. We want the same thing.”

However, Jenner claims DeGeneres was not being fair: “This discussion further alienated me from members of the LGBTQ community… Ellen’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where in my mind she even more emphatically took what I said out of context, made it go viral.”
