Donald Trump is a very vocal man, and he’s usually saying things that I disagree with or am outright disgusted by. This time, though, I find myself agreeing with him.
Trump spoke about Martin Shkreli yesterday, who I’m sure you all know, as he is CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals and was responsible for a 5,000% price rise in HIV drug Daraprim. He has since said that he will be reconsidering the price rise, but the damage to Shkreli’s reputation has been done.
When discussing Shkreli, Trump had this to say: “He looks like a spoiled brat to me. You want to know the truth? He looks like a spoiled brat.”
As is common knowledge now, Shkreli defended his actions at first, stating his company’s need to turn a profit and shut down the possibility of a price decrease completely.
Trump touched on this, saying that Shkreli came off like thought “he was hot stuff.”
He continued: “That guy is nothing. He’s zero. He’s nothing. He ought to be ashamed of himself.”
Trump then went on speak on how he has put hedge fund managers like Shkreli in the crosshairs, and has previously suggested that he would hike taxes on hedge fund managers if he is elected president.
“And he’s a hedge-fund guy, who, as you know — the only one that I’m raising taxes on. They are going to be paying up. But I thought it was a disgusting thing, what he did. I thought it was a disgrace.”
Trump’s comments about Shkreli may be the only sensible thing he’s said in a long while.
