J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter novels, has confirmed that LGBT students attended Hogwarts school.
In a question and answer session on Twitter, one fan said that they imagined that Hogwarts would be a safe place for LGBT students.
They then went on to ask the bestselling author whether she thought there were a lot of LGBT students at the school, to which Rowling replied: "But of course."
Rowling then tweeted an image which read: "If Harry Potter taught us anything, it's that no one should live in a closet."
After the publication of the final book in the Harry Potter series, Rowling confirmed that the character of Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts, was also gay.
