A man by the name of Adi Lederman has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for both stealing and selling unreleased Madonna songs.
Lederman might be familiar, as he actually auditioned for A Star Is Born, Israel’s top song competition. He has since admitted to hacking into the computers of people linked with Madonna and copying her records.
You might remember that Madonna herself took to Instagram late last year, urging her fans not to listen to unreleased songs which had been stolen from her album Rebel Heart, which had then been leaked online.
“I have been violated as a human and an artist.”
Her rep in Israel promptly lodged a complaint to the proper authorities, which led to the investigation and arrest of Lederman.
Lederman, as well as his prison sentence, was fined 15,000 shekels, or £2,575. The court said that they hoped his sentence would act as a deterrent for anyone else thinking of enacting a similar crime.
