New York County Reveals Ban on “Gay Cure” Therapy Called PENCE

A new bill from New York county has been revealed with the aim to ban dangerous “gay cure” therapies, and it has the most perfect name you could ask for.

The bill, which was introduced by Erie County legislator Patrick Burke, is called the Prevention of Emotional Neglect and Childhood Endangerment or PENCE for short. There has been no comment on this from Burke.

It is entirely possible it’s a coincidence, but it is perfectly timed, given that President-elect Trump has a Vice President in Mike Pence. Mike Pence is infamous for his homophobic beliefs and his support of conversion therapy for LGBT people.

Burke said of the new bill:”The overwhelming evidence says that inflicting this phony therapy on children and adolescents isn’t just medically ineffective, but it is detrimental to a child’s wellbeing.”

“It is time to call this practice what it is, abuse. Kids are exceptionally effectible, and the last thing an LGBTQ+ child needs is to be told that the way they were born is wrong and must be changed.”

Given Pence’s horrid history with the LGBT community, which includes voting to stop marriage equality and also voting against a law preventing discrimination based upon sexuality, the PENCE law could not have come at a better time. Hopefully soon we can see the barbaric practice of conversion therapy banned all across the US and the UK.
