Love Happens Here is to be the theme of this year’s Pride celebrations in London.
“This year we are going to show the world that there is an abundance of love in our great city of London,” said Alison Camps, Pride in London Co-Chair and Director of Marketing.
“The LGBT+ community continues to battle against discrimination and our campaign is going to send a message to those people who still wish our community harm that love will always conquer hate.
“Our Love Happens Here campaign will celebrate people’s experiences of love in all its forms. Family and friends, the kindness of strangers, the times someone was there for you when you needed them the most. And the important moments you felt you were able to love yourself – your true self. Working together, we will blanket our city with love.”
On 8 July London will host its largest Pride march and celebrations ever, marking the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK.
The Pride in London Festival will take place between 24 June to 9 July, and will showcase some of the most inspiring talents and celebrates diversity in the LGBT+ community, including theatre, dance, talks and conferences, LGBT+ tours, art and much more.
Pride in London want LGBT+ people to get in touch and share their stories of love and to hear about the moments that have a special meaning to them: “From the street where you had your first kiss, to the neighbourhood where you felt confident enough to step out as who you are, to the bar you first danced the night away in Soho.”
