An Orthodox Russian priest has criticised Russia's football team for wearing coloured boots, calling them a "homosexual abomination".
Posting on a Christian website, Alexander Shumsky said that by wearing the pink, yellow, blue and green boots the players were promoting the "gay rainbow".
"Wearing pink or blue shoes [they] might as well wear women's knickers and a bra," he wrote. "The liberal ideology of globalism clearly wants to oppose Christianity with football, I'm sure of it.
"Therefore I am glad that the Russian players have failed and, by the grace of God, no longer participate in this homosexual abomination."
Russia was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup in Brazil.
They will, however, be hosting the next World Cup in 2018.
