The Good Wife Spin-Off Announces Lesbian Character

Seems like CBS is committed to diversity in its characters and storylines and is proving it with its upcoming new show. The Good Fight is set to premiere on February 19th, a spin-off from the wildly successful show, The Good Wife. And the network has announced that one of its lead character, Maia, will be a lesbian.

Maia, played by Game of Thrones actress, Rose Leslie, is in a serious relationship with girlfriend, Amy.

“That’s Maia’s longtime girlfriend, who is a lawyer herself,” says executive producer Robert King. “She graduated from law school a while ago. Now it’s Maia’s turn to graduate from law school.”

The new show will feature some Good Wife alumni, such as Cush Jumbo as Lucca Quinn and Sarah Steele as Eli’s daughter Marissa, but will also feature some new characters played by Delroy Lindo from Chicago Code, Paul Guilfoyle from CSI, and Bernadette Peters of Smash fame.
