Caitlyn Jenner has taken over the news recently, which many in the LGBT community are extremely grateful for, feeling the spotlight will help society to better understand trans individuals.
Caitlyn has certainly enjoyed an overwhelming amount of support via social media (including from friends and family, even Barack Obama, the US President chimed in), but there are still some who are not being quite as accepting.
Timbaland, a 43-year-old rapper, former Nickelodeon star and producer, who has worked with a number of high profile musicians, including Justin Timberlake and Madonna, has refused to honour Jenner’s wishes of being called Caitlyn.
Instead, Timbaland posted a meme on the social networking website Facebook with the text “His momma named him Bruce, Imma call him bruce.” The image used in the meme is from the 1988 film “Coming to America” starring Eddie Murphy.
As of the time of writing, the Facebook post has received almost 8,600 likes and thousands of comments and shares, some in support of Jenner and others supporting Timbaland.
