A PR consultant for the Vatican has an interesting take on canonized saints – he recently made a comment on social media implying that some saints were probably gay.
Apparently Father James Martin, a Jesuit preacher who was hired by the Vatican to help with their public relations, is more inclusive than much of the church. Earlier this week, Father Martin said: “A certain percentage of humanity is gay, and so were most likely some of the saints… You may be surprised when you get to heaven to be greeted by LGBT men and women.”
And as you may remember, Martin had previously commented on President Trump undoing the federal guidelines that President Obama had previously put in place to help protect trans students. Martin said: “It saddens me that a trans student cannot choose what bathrooms to use. A basic need. It’s an affront to their dignity as human beings.”
So keep this in mind next time you are thinking about which saint to pray to.
