2016 Emmy Nominations: Game of Thrones, Sarah Paulson, and RuPaul Are Standouts

On Thursday, the 2016 Emmy Nominations were announced by black-ish’s Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls’ Lauren Graham.

Game of Thrones took the lead with a grand total of 23 Emmy nominations, while The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story came in a close second with 22 Emmy nods, including one for out actress Sarah Paulson. The actress was actually nominated twice for Ryan Murphy projects—once for the popular O.J. miniseries and once for American Horror Story: Hotel.

Transparent earned a nomination for best comedy, competing against the hilarious Master of None and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Speaking of Kimmy Schmidt, Tituss Burgess received his second nomination for best supporting actor.

And in the most celebratory news, RuPaul finally received a much earned Emmy nomination after being snubbed for eight seasons.
