Kroger, America’s most lucrative grocery store chain, has decided to be take a different approach when it comes to the hotly contended transgender bathroom debate going on across the country.
A Kroger store in Athens, Georgia has created a unisex bathroom, along with a perfectly worded explanation.
The sign reads:
“We have a unisex bathroom because sometimes gender specific toilets put others into uncomfortable situations. And since we have a lot of friends coming to see us, we want to provide a place for our friends who are:
- Dads with daughters
- Moms with sons
- Parents with disabled children
- Those in the LGBTQ community
- Adults with aging parents who may be mentally or physically disabled
Thank you for helping us to provide a safe environment for everyone!”
One store customer took a picture of the sign and posted it on Facebook. It has been shared over 40,000 times and the Internet is abuzz about it. It garnered mostly positive reviews from social media commenters, with many statements of support, such as:
“Kudos from a loyal Kroger customer,” said one person.
“I wish all businesses and people would extend this kind of courtesy,” said another commenter.
Kroger definitely earns a thumbs up on this one!
