Anti-LGBT Pamphlets in Nashville

Pamphlets with a very different definition of the acronym “LGBT” were received by numerous gay bars in Nashville on Thursday. The pictures set against the LGBT acronym were not that of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, but that of lady liberty, gun, beer, and Trump. Melvin Brown, owner of Stirrup Sports Bar and one of the four recipients of the pamphlet reported to NBC News, “We live in a post-Pulse world in the LGBTQ community, especially in the bar scene. To see somebody send a postcard that had a picture of the weapon used in one of the deadliest assaults in this nation’s history, and one that happened at an LGBTQ bar, and to send that image to LGBTQ bars, to me is not a coincidence.” Apparently, the return address on the mailing envelope Brown received was signed “MAGA.” “MAGA” is the acronym for “Make America Great Again,” which is President Trump’s catchphrase. If their intent was to intimidate the LGBT community, Brown also said, “People will respond in ways that are positive and uplifting, because that’s the way we choose to live our lives.”
