Apple Chief: “Being gay is God’s greatest gift to me”

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, who came out as gay four years ago, has said that being gay is “God’s greatest gift” to him.

Speaking to Christine Amanpour of CNN International, he said that he had come out to show gay children that they could come out and still do “some big jobs” in life.

He also said that coming out had made him a better leader.

“I learned what it was like to be a minority,” he told CNN. “The feeling of being in a minority gives you a level of empathy for other people who are not in the majority.”
He also said that facing prejudice had given him a thick skin.

When Cook came out in 2014 he was the first CEO of a Fortune 500 to do so.

Since then other CEOs have come out as gay.
