Ben Whishaw turned to therapy to deal with being gay

Paddington and Mary Poppins Returns star Ben Whishaw has revealed how he turned to therapy to help him come to terms with his homosexuality.

Speaking to the Sunday Times magazine, he said: “There was a moment in my early twenties when I did not feel good about myself. It was to do with my sexuality and not knowing how to be myself and hating myself.”

He said that the therapy helped him to come to terms with himself and also to come out to his family.

He added that, despite his earlier fears, since coming out he had experienced no negative effects on his life or career.

He also added that he believed that most people were on a “spectrum”, and said that he got “mixed up” about all the sexual labels people apply to themselves.
