As if we needed another reason to think Roger Ailes was despicable… We have now found out that the former Fox News chief was known for his homophobic slurs.
Sources claim that Ailes used the word “faggot” to refer to David Brock, the founder of Media Matters who happens to be gay.
After Ailes met with Politico CEO Fred Ryan, he reportedly said that he wanted fair coverage from Politico; he wanted the website to take stock of Fox News’ successes, not just its controversies; and he wanted Politico to stop taking talking points from “that faggot David Brock”.
Brock simply responded by saying “Why am I not surprised?” when he found out about what Ailes had said.
Ailes, as you likely heard, resigned as CEO of Fox News a few weeks ago after numerous allegations of inappropriate comments and prolonged harassment had surfaced. Several of the Fox News female journalists have come out claiming that he sexually harassed and “psychologically tortured” them.
Before taking on Fox News, Roger Ailes previously consulted for George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, and Rudy Giuliani. Rumor has it that he told George H.W. Bush not to wear a specific shirt because it made him look like “a f**ing faggot.”
Since Ailes departure, Rupert Murdoch has taken control of Fox News as the acting CEO. Good riddance!
