A wedding photographer in Florida got an unexpected text from a bride who was enraged after she went on his website and discovered that he had recently taken pictures of a gay wedding. Clinton Brentwood Lee, owner of Brentwood Photography in Florida, then responded to her in the best way possible.
The bride’s text stated: “We would just like to inform you that we will NOT be using your services for our wedding. My fiancé and I support traditional marriage between a man and a woman and don’t want our money going to places that support otherwise.” Then, the bride continues by asking for her $1,500 deposit back.
The photographer responds with a great deal of elegance and wit.
“I would say this disappoints me, but I actually find this to be a good thing because our company now would now not like to work with you as well. It’s not that because you have a different view from us, but it’s because, since you don’t like and support gay marriage, no one else should be able to have it. That’s like me not liking broccoli, and demanding that everyone else in the world should not have broccoli either!…At Brentwood Photography we see love in all forms.”
He then goes on to inform the bride that although her deposit is non-refundable, he does not plan to keep it.
“Because of this conversation, I have decided to donate your $1,500 to GLADD, a group created to help and support gay rights. So let me be the first to say thank you very much for your donation and support of this great cause!”
Now let’s give Brentwood a loud round of applause…
