Caitlyn Jenner Speaks On Her Gold Medal

Caitlyn Jenner recently discussed her Olympic gold medal, and revealed that she keeps it in an odd place – her makeup drawer.

I don’t think anyone needs background information on Caitlyn, it’s very public knowledge that she transitioned very recently, and that she used to be known as Bruce Jenner, and won the men’s decathlon in the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Unsurprisingly, the medal she won there is one of her most prized possessions:  “My gold medal is my most prized possession – I’m so proud of it.”

However, despite the fact that Caitlyn is understandably very proud of her achievement, she doesn’t display at home so her children to feel under pressure to achieve the same level of success.

“I never wanted my kids to feel like they had to have a gold medal in order to be considered a success. I didn’t want them to constantly compare their own achievements to my time in the Olympics, so I haven’t displayed my medal. Here’s where it currently lives in my make-up drawer.”

She then went on to discuss the current time in her life, and how it’s “even a greater time” to be held up as an important spokesperson for LGBT people and transgender people in particular.

“I’m very proud of it. That was a great time in my life, but to be honest with you, it’s even a greater time in my life right now with what I’m trying to accomplish with this.”
