Music is a vital element to many people. Myself, as a lover of metal, couldn’t imagine my life without music. And certainly, I couldn’t picture any real celebration without music.
Coming up this weekend is London Pride, and after that we still have several major Pride events on the calendar. To help us all celebrate Pride and the glorious months of summer, Spotify have launched the #PressPlayForPride category.
This particular playlist has personal commentary and playlists from both LGBT community members, as well as some of our famous allies. These include Adam Lambert, Alan Cumming, Brad Goreski, Conchita Wurst, Kathy Griffin, Kelly Osbourne, Rufus Wainright, Tegan and Sara, Troye Sivan, and Years & Years.
Isa Notermans, Spotify’s Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion had this to say: “We created #PressPlayForPride because we are a company that celebrates diversity and creates content that our listeners can identify with. Given how popular Pride playlists are with Spotify’s listeners we believe the inspirational commentary and incredible music #PressPlayForPride offers will truly resonate with music fans and provide a soundtrack for their Pride celebrations all season long.”
They have also compiled the most popular songs from around the world into their 975,000+ LGBT and Pride-themed playlists, so even if the #PressPlayForPride collection doesn’t take your fancy, there’s something there for you.
If anything, it’ll make for good music when travelling down to your local Pride parade.
