We previously reported that Demi Lovato, like so many other entertainers, has decided to protest North Carolina’s discriminatory law by cancelling her concerts in the state. Lovato continued showing her support for LGBT rights last night at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.
Lovato performed her hit song Cool for the Summer at the awards show in Las Vegas, and during her performance she conspicuously wore a T-shirt with an “inclusive bathroom” symbol on it.
Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President and CEO, commented on Lovato’s shit: “Demi Lovato continues to be a fearless ally for LGBT equality and acceptance… By wearing her support for the transgender community, Lovato is raising critical visibility for vulnerable LGBT North Carolinians and sending an invaluable message of support to transgender people everywhere.”
Fans will be able to purchase similar shirts during her tour with Nick Jonas. The proceeds from T-shirt sales will support local LGBT organizations in North Carolina.
