Detroit Preacher Charged in Murder of Transgender Woman

A preacher is being charged in the murder of a transgender woman, Kelly Stough, that happened this past Friday in Detroit’s Palmer Park. Albert Weathers, a 46-year-old preacher, is being charged with open murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Stoughs murder case is being prosecuted by Special Prosecutor Jaimie Powell Horowitz from the Fair Michigan Justice Project (FMJP) and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Kelly’s mother, Jessica Chantea Stough, told NBC News during an interview, “She was educated, she was God-filled, she loved church, she loved others. As a human being in the United States of America, you have the right to be who you want to be, and you shouldn’t be shamed or bullied or persecuted for the choice you make.”
