Disappointment in Buttigieg Ensues Over Past Involvement with The Salvation Army

Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg

Democratic nominee for the 2020 Presidential election, Pete Buttigieg, has been catching a lot of criticism for his involvement with The Salvation Army. On December 3rd, an LGBT news sourceĀ OutĀ published a piece pointing out Buttigieg’s past involvement as a bell-ringer with the organization, which has known to oppose same-sec marriage. Many liberals are coming down on Buttigieg for his hipocracy, disappointed that he supports the supposed “anti-LGBT” organization while also confused because he has been a spokesperson for LGBT equality for years. The Salvation Army has commented after its recent backlash in the media that it works hard to include LGBT people and help them feel “safe and cared for,” despite its traditionally religious views on same-sex marriage. Buttigieg has refused to comment on the issue, but his supporters are not staying quiet.
