We all remember the hot water Dolce & Gabbana got into last year when they made their hugely offensive and narrow-minded comments about same-sex families. In an interview, they said: “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one.” Dolce even went on to call children who were born as a result of IVF “children of chemistry, synthetic children; rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalogue.”
However, they seem to have had a change of heart and are reflecting this in their new product line. In August, Dolce told Vogue: “I’ve done some soul searching. I’ve talked to Stefano a lot about this … They are just kids.”
In an act to possibly win back some of their lost LGBT customers, they are putting out a new handbag decorated with an image of two men with their three children.
There are also plans to debut a t-shirt with a family including two mothers.
A spokesman for the brand said the purses and shirts will be available in stores soon.
