Sir Elton John and his civil partner David Furnish are to marry this weekend.
The couple, who first met in 1993 and who underwent in a civil partnership in 2005, are taking advantage of the fact that last week's changes to the law make it possible for couples to convert their existing civil partnership into a marriage.
It is believed that the ceremony will take place on 21 December at the couple's home in Windsor.
Only close friends and family, including the couple's two sons Zachary and Elijah, will be invited to the event.
Same-sex marriage was made legal in England and Wales in March this year, and on 16 December in Scotland.
