The original Jungle Book is rightly considered by many to be one of Disney’s best animated classics, so that generation of kids are definitely going to be looking very carefully at the live action reboot.
However, judging from this very first image, it looks like it’s in the right hands. It is being directed by Jon Favreau (who is probably best known for Iron Man and Iron Man 2), who will be sticking fairly closely to the much beloved animated film. Take a look at the first image of this film below and keep one thing in mind – only Mowgli is actually real in this shot. The rest of it is special effects.
Needless to say, Favreau has a very talented team of special effects people at his disposal. They have been revisiting the techniques of the beautiful Avatar and the gorgeous Life of Pi to create this beautifully eye popping and colourful world. The human cast have all been captured against a Pinewood green screen, which includes Bill Murray (Baloo), Christopher Walken (King Louie), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Scarlett Johansson (Kaa) and Ben Kingsley’s Bagheera.
Favreau said, when speaking of the reboot: “We wanted to make sure that film fit more in our times. But I wanted to make sure that whatever images were looming in my memory, I captured them so it evokes the original.”
The Jungle Book is out on April 15, 2016. You can watch the trailer below.
