An Iowa gay couple have finally tied the knot after more than seven decades of being together.
Vivian Boyack, 91, and Alice "Nonie" Dubes, 90, got married in Iowa on Saturday in a ceremony attended by family and close friends.
"This is a celebration of something that should have happened a very long time ago," said Reverend Linda Hunsaker who married the couple.
Boyack and Dubes first met in their hometown of Yale in Iowa and since then have travelled as a couple to all 50 US states as well as to England and to all Canada's provinces.
"We've had a good time," Dubes said, and added that although their relationship had had its ups and downs along the way, it was never too late to start a new chapter in life.
Same-sex marriage was legalised in Iowa in 2009.
