Gay Harry Potter Actress Says Referring To Her Partner As A Wife Makes Her Sick

Gay and out actress, Miriam Margoyles, known for playing Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter franchise, says that she and her partner, Heather Sutherland, have “a civil partnership, but the thought of referring to one another as ‘wife’ makes me feel sick.”

She continues by saying that she simply can’t relate to gay marriage. “I don’t understand why gay people are so anxious to get married.”

Margoyles also admits that while she supports children’s charities and causes, she simply cannot imagine having children herself. “I support children’s charities, I just don’t want them around me. It’s not very admirable, but it’s the truth.”

She did come out in praise of J.K. Rowling, however, calling her a “fabulous woman.” Margoyles continues: “And I just love the fact that the richest woman in Britain is a writer – what a brilliant state of affairs. But Harry Potter didn’t make me rich, I was pleasantly paid, and it was just extraordinary to be a part of something that will mean generations of children know who I am.”

When referring to her life partner, Heather, Miriam says: “I have had a partner for nearly 50 years. We have been happy and loving and joyous and each other, and we still are. My only fear is she will die before me, or that I will die before her – and one of them is going to happen, unless we have a suicide pact. But I don’t think she’s up for that!”
