A gay Russian pop star has been kidnapped in Chechnya and allegedly tortured to death, reports claim.
Zelimkhan Bakayev was reported missing in August when he left Moscow to attend his sister’s wedding in the Chechnya capital of Grozny.
Since then there has been no signs of him and his social media accounts have been suspended.
It is believed that he has been the victim of an anti-gay purge in the country.
However, a source has told gay website NewNowNext that he was kidnapped by authorities and tortured to death.
“He arrived in Grozny and was picked up by police within three hours,” the source said. Within ten hours he was murdered.”
