Hate Crime Charges Filed Against 4 in Miami

Miami Beach, South Beach, Ocean Drive.

Chalarca and his companion Dmitry Logunov attended Miami Beach’s annual gay-pride parade on April 8, 2018, when all of a sudden they were both assaulted. Juan Lopez, Luis Alonso, Adonis Diaz and Pablo Reinaldo Romo were the 4 men arrested that day that for assaulting the couple and shouting anti-gay slurs at them. They are charged with a first-degree felony hate crime, punishable by up to 30 years in prison, and have all plead not guilty. Miami Beach Major of Police, Paul Acosta, spoke about it on Twitter saying, “These charges send a strong message that #HateCrime will NEVER be tolerated.”
