You may have heard the rumors… Now it’s been confirmed. I am Cait has been cancelled.
Earlier today, Caitlyn Jenner tweeted: “After 2 amazing seasons of @IAmCait, it’s time for the next adventure. Thank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!”
A spokesman for E! added: “We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of I Am Cait, a groundbreaking docu-series that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs… Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
Rumors swirled just a few weeks ago claiming that the series was going to be cancelled based on low viewership; however, it wasn’t clear if these were just rumors or the true beginning of the end. We now know it was the latter. It appears that while the show premiered in 2015 to huge ratings, viewers soon grew tired of the docu-series and many felt they simply could not embrace Jenner following a myriad of controversial political remarks.
And even though this particular show is over, and regardless of whether you loved or hated it, we are quite confident you will see Caitlyn on television again soon. In fact, it has already been reported that Jenner will appear in the next season of Transparent. And, of course, as E! has already confirmed, we are sure to see her with the ubiquitous Kardashians once again.
But for now, I am Cancelled.
