In a recent interview on Good Morning America, Julianne Moore spoke in a fair amount of detail about her upcoming film, Freeheld.
Freeheld, as I’m sure most of you are aware of by now, tells the true story of Stacie Andree and Laurel Hester, who fought for the right to pass Laurel’s pension onto her partner Stacey after she passed. Their fight is noted to be a major force toward’s this year’s huge success with marriage equality.
Julianne said: “She [Laurel Hester] just wanted to be treated like everybody else. I mean, that’s what’s so moving about Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree’s story, is that they truly were partners. They had legally registered for domestic partnership.”
“[…]It’s a love story, yeah. And that was my favourite part of it, too. I love love stories, I think all actors do, and to get to one with an actor the caliber of Ellen Page[…]we had a great time together.”
And then, when speaking once more about Stacie and Laure’s fight for equal rights, Julianne finished up by saying: “They just want what everybody wants.”
