Kim Davis Released From Jail

US Judge David Banning has released Kim Davis from jail, with the condition that she not interfere with her deputies issuing licenses to same-sex couples.

If she resumes her previous behaviour and interferes with her deputies, Judge Banning said she could once again be jailed for defying the court. Banning issued a stern warning, saying: “Defendant Davis shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples. If Defendant Davis should interfere in any way with their issuance, that will be considered a violation of this order and appropriate sanctions will be considered.”

When she was released, Davis would greeted with a crowd of supporters, including Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz, as the song Eye of the Tiger played on the speakers. Davis, who will return to work this week, addressed the crowd: “I just want to give God the glory. His people have rallied, and you are a strong people. Just keep on pressing. Don’t let down. Because he is here.”

Naturally, the support Davis has gotten has gotten criticism from LGBT supporters and community members. One of the most famous being George Takei, who said via his Facebook page: “Well this is a bit of a circus. So let us be clear: This woman is no hero to be celebrated. She broke her oath to uphold the Constitution and defied a court order so she could deny government services to couples who are legally entitled to be married. She is entitled to hold her religious beliefs, but not to impose those beliefs on others. If she had denied marriage certificates to an interracial couple, would people cheer her? Would presidential candidates flock to her side? In our society, we obey civil laws, not religious ones. To suggest otherwise is, simply put, entirely un-American.”

As well as this, Survivor frontman Frankie Sullivan was not pleased that their song Eye of the Tiger was used at Davis’ rally and are even considering legal action. Frankie wrote, via their official Facebook page: “NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use “My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger. I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that –

See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!”
