LGBT Work Discrimination Cases Headed to The Supreme Court

The United States Supreme Court.

It was announced this past Monday that the Supreme Court of the United States would be looking at three cases involving discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. With the large number of municipalities and state governments tackling this important aspect of working in the US and being LGBT, its important that the SCOTUS support the community.

Federal courts have ruled that the current laws at their level of government already protect based on sexual orientation and gender identity. This ability of the lower courts to rule in favor of the LGBT members that have been discriminated against is what’s really at play with the Supreme Court decision. Without an “Equality Act,” the lower courts are almost the only recourse left to the LGBT workforce to defend against discrimination.
