Madonna made a surprise visit to Paris last night, with a free gig in one of the city’s most visited squares, as tribute to the victims of the November 13 Paris terror attacks.
Madonna headed straight over to the Place de la Republique from her show at the 23,000 capacity AccorHotel Arena to play the surprise show. She wasted no time in posting a picture of herself and her son David Banda on Twitter, with the caption: “I’m singing some songs in place de la republique. Meet me there now #Paris. #rightnow #aftershow❤️ #rebelheartour.”

Given that this isn’t exactly something Madonna does all that often, fans wondered if this was some sort of prank. However, fans in the area were richly rewarded by heading out to meet her in Place de la Republique.
Madonna, plus her son David and guitarist Monte Pittman led fans and passers-by alike in a campfire-esque singalong, covering songs such as Ghosttown, John Lennon’s Imagine and Like A Prayer.
