Man threatens to stab people on train from Brighton Pride

A man allegedly threatened to stab train passengers on an early Sunday morning train heading from Brighton and Hove Pride and back to London’s Victoria station.

The man reportedly said that all gay people were filthy and that they ought to die.

He claimed that he had a knife on his pocket and said that all gay men were disgusting and deserved to be killed.

British Transport Police met the train at Victoria and arrested the 28-year-old man on a public order offence. He remains in custody.

The incident followed chaos at Brighton train station the previous night with huge delays to trains as some revellers waited for at least three hours to get a train home. Many gave up and spent the night on Brighton beach.

Brighton Pride, however, was a huge success, with an estimated 57,000 people seeing headliner Britney Spears perform at Preston Park, and thousands of people joining in the celebrations at the Kemptown village, as well as the parade along the seafront.
