Man United star: gay footballers would get respect

Paul Pogba, a midfielder with Premier League club Manchester United, has said that any Premier League footballer who came out would have respect.

Speaking in Monaco at UEFA’s Respect campaign, he said that everyone should be treated equal.

“What he does in his private life has nothing to do with the player,” he said. “You just have to respect him. Because he respects you, you respect him. That’s it.

“It’s all about respect. It’s all about equality everywhere in the world. We are all equal when we play football.”

Former Aston Villa Thomas Hitzlsperger is the only Premier League footballer to have come out.

However, he did so after retiring from football.
