Martin Shkreli seems to be enjoying the fact that he is seen as one of the most evil human beings on the internet, but he also seems to be aiming to become the most evil with no contest.
Now, Shkreli has come out and said that he wishes he had raised the price of AIDS drug Daraprim more than 5,000%. You probably don’t need reminding, but when Shkreli’s company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, first got their hands on the rights to this drug, the price went up from $13.50 to $750 per pill.
Despite this huge increase, which has now been reduced by a measely 50%, Shkreli now says he wishes he had raised it even higher.
When speaking at the Forbes Healthcare Summit, he had this to say: “I think I could have it raised it higher and made even more profit.”
What’s his reasoning, I hear you ask? Well…
“This is a capitalist society, capitalist system and capitalist rules. My investors expect me to maximize profits, not to minimize them, or go half, or go 70%, but to go to 100% of the profit curve that we’re all taught in MBA class.”
Nevermind the people who will die because of your actions, eh, Martin?
