Massachusetts Bans Conversion Therapy

Republican Governor Charlie Baker has signed into law a bill outlawing the use of conversion therapy on minors. This makes Massachusetts the 16th state to enact such a law. While this is a great step toward eradicating the use of such a useless and harmful treatment, it does not address it’s use on adults.

Republicans in the state Senate expressed concerns that it would infringe on parent and therapist rights, but they were unable to stop the bill from going before the governor.
