We just can’t say enough good things about Miley Cyrus and her unwavering commitment to the LGBT community.
Just last week, she posted a picture of herself tearing up after watching an episode of Ellen Page’s Gaycation.
She captioned the picture with: “#gaycation got me like……. @viceland @happyhippiefdn @ellenpage (this is post a scene where a young Japanese man comes out to his mother….. My heart breaks but is melded back together with hope and optimism for family acceptance)”
In response, Ellen Page praised Miley on Instagram for her continued work on gay rights. “Thank you @mileycyrus for supporting #gaycation and for all the work you do to help the LGBTQ community”
Gender fluidity is something the singer and actress is also passionate about. When it comes to gender identity, she has said: “[Growing up] I kind of wanted to be nothing. I don’t relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that’s what I had to understand: Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”
And even though she is now happily engaged to Liam Hemsworth (again), she will be the first to share that gender does not matter to her when it comes to love and relationships.
“I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age…I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”
It is rumored that she is even requesting her upcoming wedding to Hemsworth be a rainbow extravaganza, highlighting the Supreme Court decision to allow gays to (finally) legally marry. For those of you who didn’t know, Miley even has a “Love is Equal” tattoo!
Miley just gets more and more awesome all the time!
