The Mayor of Nashville, David Briley, signed an executive order that recognizes LGBT-certified businesses. Companies will be able to get a certification by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and the Metro Nashville government will make programs and services available to them. It will also help Nashville keep track of how often LGBT businesses are being established and the positive impact they have on the community.
This is a step in the right direction for Nashville, considering the State Congress passed a law defining marriage as between one man and one woman. On top of that there are Republicans that are trying to overturn the Obergefell v. Hodges decision, granting marriage equality in Tennessee.
