Neil Patrick Harris is set to return to the small screen. Harris has announced that he will play villainous Count Olaf in Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s best-selling novels, A Series Of Unfortunate Events.
The stories follow three orphaned siblings—Violet, Klaus, and Sunny—who are continuously haunted and tormented by Count Olaf as he attempts to steal their inheritance. The series is made up of 13 books and the mini-series will be released containing 13 episodes.
Barry Sonnenfeld, known for his work on The Addams Family and Men in Black, is set to direct the show, which will begin filming in Vancouver later this month.
The series’ author, Daniel Handler, who writes under the alias Lemony Snicket, will also be an executive producer for the show.
Neil Patrick Harris will be taking on the same role Jim Carey inhabited when the film version of A Series of Unfortunate Events was released in theaters in 2004.
