A transgender anti-discrimination law is expected to be passed in New Hampshire after the bill passed through the state’s Senate at a close 14-10 vote. The bill is now on its way to NH Governor Chris Sununu whom reportedly says he will be signing it through. In addition to the protections that already exist in New Hampshire based on race, sex, religion, and sexual orientation, the new bill will ban discrimination based on an individuals gender identity. Senator Dan Innis of Newcastle spoke on the bills importance stating, “These laws are necessary because of the pervasive discrimination that transgender people face at work, at home and in public. I’m not transgender, but 10, 20 years ago, I experienced these discriminations. They’re painful.”
