Oklahoma University quarterback Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy this past Saturday, and almost immediately after had to apologize for old tweets he posted on Twitter with homophobic language. The tweets that resurfaced from 2011-2012, have Murray referring to some of his friends as “queers.” His most recent Tweet about it said, “I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15. I used a poor choice of word that doesn’t reflect who I am or what I believe. I did not intend to single out any individual or group.”
So far, the unearthed tweets have not effected his $4.6 million contract to play baseball for the Oakland Athletics.
