A gay male couple have allegedly been turned away from a Leeds bar because it has a “mixed-sex couples” policy only.
Patrick Hannon and Jake Archer say they were turned away from Jake’s bar in Leeds, which is close to the city’s gay area, because they were two men.
Mr Hannon, who is a police officer, told the BBC: “If we were drunk or in a large group then you would understand.
“They need to think about how it makes them look – as a bar they are not very open minded.”
In a statement Jake’s Bar said that it never discriminates and would look into the matter and discuss it with their “externally supplied” door team.
They also said that they had many customers from the LGBTQIA+ community.
