The Rolling Stones made quite the announcement today, that they will be doing a free live performance in Cuba later on this month.
The gig, which is taking place on March 25, will be quite the landmark performance. A spokesperson for the band said that the show in the capital, Havana will be “the first open air concert in Cuba by a British rock band.”
This will be an extra date on their current tour which they are doing in Latin America, due to end on March 17. The timing of the Rolling Stones, as it will take place three days after a historic visit to Havana by President Obama.
A statement from The Rolling Stones reads: “We have performed in many special places during our long career, but this show in Havana is going to be a landmark event for us, and, we hope, for all our friends in Cuba too.”
