Long seen as Australia’s “it” couple, Ruby Rose and Phoebe Dahl have announced that their engagement has been called off.
The cause of the split seems to be a combination of the distance between the pair, as well as Ruby’s schedule for Orange is the New Black being busier than anticipated.
Phoebe revealed the break-up to US Weekly, who said: “After two wonderful years together, Ruby and I have decided to part ways. While we still love each other and support each other in every way, it is our mutual decision to part way. Our break is not the result of any media speculation, and we want nothing but the best for each other. Thank you for respecting our privacy in this very difficult time.”
According to a source, the split is completely amicable: “It’s completely amicable and they wish each other the best.”
This sentiment is definitely echoed on both Ruby and Phoebe’s respective Twitter accounts, with both of them giving each other positive messages.
@FAIRCLOTHSUPPLY remains very dear to my heart. I will forever treasure our time together. I’m a better person because of all we shared.

@RubyRose you have brought me to my best and I will always love you. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for us.

When speaking to People back in June, Ruby discussed how the strain of recording Orange was unexpectedly high: “When I booked Orange, I thought things were going to change a little bit and I’d be a little busier, but obviously I underestimated it.”
“I don’t think anyone knew that my character would be taken to so well. We want to find the time to plan the wedding but now I think it’s going to be, like, next year. Originally it was going to be this year, but I feel like that’s a bit too ambitious.”
