Serbia’s lesbian prime minister has become the first Serbian PM to walk in Belgrade’s gay pride parade.
Ana Brnabic was appointed this year as prime minister in what is seen widely seen as an attempt to improve the Balkan country’s image prior to its consideration of becoming a member of the European Union.
Carrying rainbow flags and balloons, and a banner reading “For change participants marched through the streets of Belgrade. Many took selfies with Ms Brnabic.
The prime minister said: “The government is here for all citizens and will secure the respect of rights for all citizens.
“We want to send a signal that diversity makes our society stronger, that together we can do more.”
