Stacey Abrams joins Atlanta LGBT Parade

Stacey Abrams, the Democratic nominee for the governor of Georgia, took part in the annual LGBT Pride Parade in Atlanta this past weekend. It’s a historic moment as Stacey Abrams is now the first major-party nominee vying for the governors seat in Georgia to participate in the largest LGBT Pride Parade in the Southeast. If she wins she will be the first black female Governor in U.S. history. As Governor she would oppose so-called “religious liberty” bills that would allow businesses to deny service to anyone, including the LGBT community. At the parade, she rode in her SUV chanting, and was reported saying, “We’re here because we stand together, because we know that allies do not run from fights. And because we know we all have pride in Georgia. We stand with you and not against you.”
