There are many foods that will help you bolster your energy, reduce fat on your body and help prevent you from looking old before your time.

 

The key to keeping your youthful appearance is to be healthy and fit, but also to take care of your skin. Smoking, sun exposure and making the wrong food choices can age your skin prematurely. Along with stopping bad habits like smoking and excessive sun tanning, some of the foods you can add to your diet that provides anti-aging properties include:

Sweet Potatoes – This root vegetable contains high levels of beta-carotene that can help balance the PH levels of your skin, keeps your skin from drying out and promotes cell regeneration. All of these benefits help to provide you with smoother skin. Carrots, squash, cantaloupe and dark leafy greens also contain large amounts of beta-carotene.

Wild Salmon – You probably know about the benefits of eating fish like salmon for your heart health, but this food is also good for your skin. A pigment contained in this fish called astaxanthin, which is what makes salmon pink, fights free radicals that can cause cell damage and prematurely age skin. By eating one serving of wild salmon every five days can help prevent damage to your skin.

Citrus Fruits – Vitamin C helps to build collagen, which is a protein in the body that keeps your skin plump, elastic and youthful looking. Gelatin is also a good source of this protein, which accounts for 25 to 35 percent of the body’s entire protein content. Citrus fruits also contain bioflavonoids that protects skin against the effects of damaging UV rays
