Things to do in London This Weekend | Apr 29 – May 1

Looking for something to do this weekend? This is your definitive guide which will come every week, telling you what’s happening this weekend. As you know, this can range from one off events, long running events, or just cool places or good clubs to visit.

Let’s begin things this week with something a bit unique; Club de Fromage on Ice! This is exactly what it sounds like – an ice rink disco with some classic pop anthems.

“Come and skate to all your fav hits from the 90’s. If you’ve seen Fromage at their Islington home, Glastonbury or the like, you’ll know what to expect from London’s best pop party providers.”

The event is taking place on Friday at Alexandra Palace from 8.30pm, so buy tickets here.

Next up on our list this week is Good Ship Benefit at Victoria Embankment on the R.S. Hispaniola.

“Come aboard and join us for a whole host of exciting events and activities. Whether you want dinner with your besties, cocktails with your work gals and guys, or fancy getting involved with a class, we’ve got it all and we can’t wait to see you. Located on the River Thames, 2 minutes walk from Embankment tube station and with spectacular views across the river.”

Check it out here.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, maybe have a gander at The Get Down at the Book Club, Shoreditch.

“DJs: Shorebitch DJs, Jimmy Plates

It’s fair to say that Shorebitch has become one of East London’s premier parties over the past few years. So it’s a great pleasure to welcome them to bring their own brand of party starting to our Friday night block party. Playing a mix of hiphop, garage, grime, house and more these guys are alongise resident Jimmy will turn up the heat in our basement.

Music policy: r&b, hip hop, disco, funk, soul classics.”

It’s on Friday night, and free before 9pm or £5 after. Get more details here.

If you’re looking to get outdoors a bit this bank holiday weekend, then the Canalway Cavalcade might be an option.

“Come along to London’s biggest waterside festival taking place over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. Admission to this the iconic London event is free.  View the spectacle of the decorated boats in the pool, or watch a Punch & Judy show in Rembrandt Gardens.”

“As well as boating competitions and parades, there will be lots of activities to keep the children amused. Visit the tasty selection of food stalls, see what’s on offer at the real-ale bar, or peruse the stalls selling the weird and the wonderful.  There really is something for everyone at this special event.”

So if you’re interested in seeing some beautifully decorated boats while sipping on some real-ale, get more info here. This event is on Saturday, between Blomfield Rd, Warwick Avenue and Warwick Crescent.

There’s also Masquerave taking place on Saturday, which gives you the chance to party and raise money for charity.

It’s a black-tie masquerade, with 100% of the profits going towards the fight against male cancer.

“Our Main Objective is simple: to get men talking about cancer by removing the myths around it, and changing their attitudes towards their health. By bringing some blue to what seems to be a very pink world, we aim to get men paying more attention to their bodies when something might be wrong.”

Music wise, Jamie XX, Faithless, and Benji B and some as yet unannounced DJs will be keeping the dance floor rocking at this event.

This taking place at Troxy, near Limehouse station. Tickets are £60, so get them here.

It’s bank holiday weekend, so undoubtedly booze is going to come to it somewhere along the line.

Following this time is The Priory Arms May Bank Holiday Beer Festival. This is on all weekend from the 29th April until 2nd of May.

“Over 100 beers, 11 keg beers, 20 real ales, 6 real ciders, over 70 bottles, four days and one you.”

Naturally, this is free, so get more info here.

Sadly, there is once again not much on this weekend gig wise, so that’s’ it for this week! Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend.
